Flowers don't last forever but you can preserve them with just a little pressure and time! After that there is no end to the things you can decorate with them. Here's a simple craft you can do with just:

flowers * paper * glue * a magazine or book

How to press flowers

  1. Pick fresh looking flowers. Early morning on a dry day is best! Pansies and violets and tiny weed flowers work best.

  2. Dry wet ones, take petals off the pistol or thick center part of flowers like zinnias and roses.

  3. Grab an old magazine or a book you don't mind making marks in, lay a white piece of paper on the pages and flatten the flowers and pieces then gently close the book.

  1. Press under a heavy stack of books and wait. Check back in a week and see if they are dry enough to do something with! If not, give them more time.

  2. Spread a thin layer of glue on a paper cut into a bookmark shape or folded into a stationary card and gently place your flowers into your design.

  1. When dry, put your flower arrangement under glass in a picture frame or place wide clear tape over a bookmark, or build up a thick layer of modge podge following the instructions on the jar to keep it safe, and enjoy!
